OUR CULTURE

If we had to describe our businesses in three phrases (this will be hard!), it would be this…

Passionate pet enthusiasts

An ambitious community

Welcoming and friendly

We want every colleague to feel involved in the journey we’re on. We’re still developing as a business and how our team feels is hugely important to us.

We’re an inclusive organization and encourage everyone to have a voice. We communicate regularly on important business changes, what’s going on across departments and how the business is performing.

We also place a huge amount of trust in our team members. We give colleagues the tools and clarity to do their jobs properly and we value autonomy. All team members have the ownership and responsibility to deliver their roles in the way that they see fit.

COMPENSATION

Our compensation philosophy is simple – we aim to pay everyone a competitive salary.

We believe our total rewards package should create a motivating and inclusive work environment where employees feel valued, empowered, and motivated to contribute their best.  To that end, we review our compensation plan and other rewards annually with an eye to inflation forecasts, market analysis and the unique circumstances of our business.

We also offer an annual bonus plan which is based on a combination of business and personal performance. Although a bonus is not guaranteed, we have a strong track record of paying out this bonus.

EMPLOYEE STORIES

We know that what you’re looking for at work is going to be different to the person next to you.

That’s why we’ll work with you individually to understand what you want to achieve and how we can help you get there.

We put an emphasis on learning and development, covering everything from functional training – think Excel and project management – to behavioural training, coaching, mentoring, and leadership training.

We fully support qualifications if applicable to an individual's role and have supported many colleagues through CIMA, ACCA, CIM and CIPD qualifications.

“When I started at Walkin’ Pets in May of 2021, I was a member of the Customer Service Department.

I soon took on some additional responsibilities by processing our eBay and Walmart orders, as well as answering social media messages. This allowed us to continue that same customer care across all of our platforms.

Because I used to be a veterinary technician, I moved to the Veterinary and Rescue Department in January 2022. I was able to develop my skills as a sales representative and nurture the relationships we had already and new ones that I made.

As we began to grow the Veterinary and Rescue team, I stepped into my new role. As Inside Sales Manager, I help to coach the sales team to reach our targets while still providing the best customer care possible for our veterinarians and rescues nationwide.”

Kimmie Rivard, Inside Sales Manager, Vet & Rescue
